Del Rio/Ciudad Acuña is now home to over 55 Maquiladora plants, including well-known companies such as; Oster, Arconic, General Electric, San Antonio Shoe Co., AlliedSignal Automotive, and Bridgestone/Firestone Del Rio Test Center, all of whom came here to avail themselves of low-priced labor, while enjoying the technology and lifestyle of the United States. With two major industrial development groups. Acuña has several industrial development groups, two to mentions are Parque Industrial Internacional one of the newest Industrial, and Amistad Industrial Parks, both development groups are located slightly outside of downtown Acuña. These development groups house companies such as Park Ohio, Toter, Doaffer, Joyson, Halyard, Bendix are only a few located in these industrial areas. All combined these companies have seeing tremendous growth. Today the industry has employment of well over 48,500 employees in Cd Acuña with an additional 9,000 support jobs in Del Rio.
